    Default Coryanthes fieldingii

When I got this several months ago it came with a spike with flowers on the way out and another new spike, which unfortunately did not make it. I was surprised when I saw this spike several weeks ago, and not at all unhappy about it.

Those Cory's always have such cool forms and this one is no different.

    Great job blooming this one!

I am still waiting for the day I am disappointed that a spike appeared!

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen. Does anyone know what the pollinator is?

Thanks Harvey! I agree with you I am never disappointed with any new spike, I just get upset when that spike does not survive.

When the first coryanthes that I have bloomed I saw green bees, with this one so far I have not seen the bees cause I have been looking.

Thanks Sriram, I am surprised that you have not had any luck with this species, I would think that we have similar weather. I am now in the process after seeing this one bloom to look for others. Don't tell Harvey as we both are going to try to kick the habit for a couple of months, but if I see one of these I might have to change my mind.

Nina, you are right "such bizarre flowers" so much so that I want more then the two I have. I spent a little of my afternoon checking out the Coryanthes species and the ones that will survive my environment and now have a wish list of only 11 species, I am on the look out for any of them.

I only have 2 Coryanthes also, can't remember what the other species is besides my macrantha. I grow them with my Stanhopeas so I can keep everybody watered properly.
