    Default Cymbidium Australian Midnight

= canaliculatum var. sparksii x atropurpureum. A hybrid of one Australian species and a local tropical Asian species. Grew this for about 4 years, got it as a single mature bulb with 1 new growth. The leaves are very stiff, succulent and pointy, an adaptation to survive in the harsh Australian desert. This is the first blooming for me, about 25 flowers on a single spike. Some Thai nurseries are offering remakes of this hybrid as it is heat-tolerant, but these grow quite slow compared to standard soft-leaves cyms.
