I prefer "grumpy old man" myself.

Thanks all, for expressing interest in my comments. I'm relieved. I know I'm much more interested in names than most, from both life-long interest in the actual relationships of the plants and supporting academic background.

I strongly feel that the problems most orchid growers have with name changes is entirely due to the way RHS has handled them rather than any problem with the underlying science. After 40+ years observing orchid growers I have seen that it takes 2 generations to die off before complaints about new names become less common.
