This is a primary hybrid between Cym insigne ( which is in the parentage of most orchid hybrids nowadays) and goeringii - which certainly is not. In fact goeringii seems to be very variable in shape and size, but mostly is apple green in colour. Whatever, this makes an interesting combination and in my cultivation I find the hybrid free-flowering, and quite long lasting , although not as long as the modern big or rounder hybrids. Perhaps the main attraction is simply that it is different !

About 30 buds and flowers as seen, on 5 spikes ; there was a 6th, but the buds were destroyed, probably by thrips . I had a plague of them last year, which took all the flowers on this plant at the small bud stage, and I spent most of last year spraying different chemicals, or root drenching, everything in the greenhouse, to get them under control. I used too much, too often, and have paid for it with deformed flowers on a lot of Oncidiums ( these thrips seem to go for this plant first, new Cymbidium leaf growths second, and Oncidium leaves third.( So I had to stop mass spraying and just go for spot treatment when I saw a problem - I saw it with the sixth spike, and was in time to save the 5...

    Nice, showy display!

Looking at the 2 parents individually surprises me that it looks like this. I don't see much of either in the bloom.
