I have a soft spot for Pleiones ; two small pots of P. formosana were the first orchids I bought, and I didn't even know they were orchids... that was in the year 1961. They are plants of cool climates ; terrestrial, and annually deciduous . When the leaves have fallen - November- I knock them out of their pots, clean up, trim off old roots, pack them in paper bags, and store them in a cheap frig' which I bought at a certain auction house, at a temperature of 3 deg C., until it is time to repot and bring into warmth to grow again.
I have 50 or so different kinds now, and the object in all cases is to get them to multiply up to the point where I can fill a decent sized pot or pan, with say a dozen or more flowering bulbs. In most cases they bulk up quite quickly - when growing strongly the rate of multiplication can be to double the number of flowering size bulbs year by ear.
I only restarted growing them a couple of years ago, so I have not got there yet.
However, the all yellow one is P.Bonobo, which is a primary hybrid - grandiflora and forrestii , and the other one is P.Krakatoa ( yunnanensis and forrestii ) - which opens all pale yellow, and then slowly changes to the colour as seen ; I particularly like the lip markings here.

They are beautiful and I've looked for them but they don't seem to be available in Canada.
