Default a pleasant surprise from B. dearei

I am new to bulbos, and have quite a number of them croak out on me. I have bloomed a few cirrhopetalums and B. cootesii so far, and a few days ago I was so surprised to have a bud emerge from this bulbo, that I bought as Bulbophyllum facetum.

    I am happy, anyway.

The last photo isn't really so focused but it shows the flower in almost symmetrical view.

that last one is great as it shows the flower from an angle that isn't always seen... usually the pics are side on... and as always, you have taken some amazing shots! Thanks!

Now THAT looks like some kind of weird sci - fi monster from the 50's. Really neat.

One of Bulbo dearie's characteristic is the way the dorsal sepal tends to overhang most of the flower... so this is pretty much the way it will look..

just wanted to say, that i totally am loving this plant from your pics... it's inching it's way to the top of the wish list, but alas, how to keep it alive in sydney winters
