Never thought of mounting Tolumnia. Is it better than in a clay pot as this is the only way I have ever seen them in?

Give it a lot of sun to bloom. Where do you grow them?. Share a picture if possible

The Tolumnia hawkesiana need a lot of light, moisture and irrigation, not all hawkesiana bloom, some clones flower others are not, you should look for a plan that has already flourished in the past, just so you can be confident of future blooms or is likely to find a clone that will not bloom.

    I add:
I have three other Tolumnia hawkesiana, a now huge, they never bloomed. This of photography it is a division of one I had seen blossomed and she continues to bloom regularly.

Monica, there is no good answer to "is it better" when it comes to potting or mounting - or which type of pot or potting medium, for that matter. What matters is how does the chosen technique work with your specific conditions and watering habits to meet the requirements of the plant.

Tolumnias, for the most part, are native to tiny shrub twigs on the windward side of Caribbean islands. They get lots of sun, frequent showers, and a pretty much constant warm ocean breeze to dry them quickly.

Figure out how you can replicate that, and you'll find them easy to grow!
