    Default Bulbophyllum echinolabium

This is the second year blooming for me, from the time I first saw the spike till it fully opened was 2 months. A few things that I really like about this one is that the bloom is large, 10 1/2 inches tall from tip to tip, and there is a second bud on the spike that will bloom once this one finishes blooming.

Wow. Marvelous. I remember reading that this was one of the largest flowers in Orchid family and can be up to 18 inches.

Thanks Sriram. I am hoping to see that one day, 10 1/2 inches is great but 18 inches would be even greater!

Yes it is an impressive flower indeed. I must confess something really bad though. I had this plant for a couple of years and it flowered frequently. I loved the shape of the flowers but the smell was so bad that I always put the plant on the porch where it was surrounded by huge and ugly flies. The neighbors also kept asking why we used a fertilizer that kept smelling so bad for weeks. Finally I couldn't take it anymore so I gave it away during a yard sale when it wasn't flowering. Please forgive me.
