    Default Bulbophyllum papulosum

Endemic to the Philippines. Cootes in the book, The Orchids of the Philippines, states that it is not known precisely where it comes from, and there are 7,100 islands to choose.

So, I'm not telling where exactly mine came from :-).

These are blooms from two separate plants.

    Stunning! Absolutely beautiful colouration!

Hopefully the plant is numerous in the area where yours came from and can continue it's existence on those islands...

Many collectors ( those who collect in situ) do not divulge the natural source of an orchid.Historically, this is an advantage for those who commercially benefit from it. Scientifically, at this day and ages precise location can be established only with a global positioning unit.

Information provided by traders are more often not reliable but may be misleading , but could be in some cases useful.

It is common not to publicize the local population of rare species for conservation purposes.

I am publishing a paper naming the local source of this species based from research. This is Bulbophyllum is not exactly rare: ONE OF the areas we got it from is An Island in the Vizayas.

    Cheers,

    Amy
