    Default Aerides Rita Beltrame

A cross made & registered by a grower here in Australia. This plant came from him also.
The colour in the flower is pretty close to actual also.

Roy--- what is the cross? I love the color.
Just curious.....how many Aerides do you have and do you grow all of them in pots?
I have 2 (odorata in bloom now so I should post it later today) and have both on hangers with all my vanda's.
Is there an advantage to keeping them in pots?

Cross is Herman Slade x houlletiana. There is a dark form of the cross also, unfortunately I don't have a plant.
I grow most of mine in pots, some in basket, I suppose it was a trial run to see which way they grew the best. That's been going for 10 years, haven't got round to deciding which is best. Pots would be slightly ahead as it keep more moisture around the roots. The plants seem to grow better for me that way also. If the plant is ok in a basket I leave it there. Temperature & humidity levels here will be quite different to you in Florida.

Looked up the Hermon Slade. Nice.
houlletiana has to be my #1 favorite orchid. It's such an amazing color combination with a fabulous fragrance. Especially for a species!
It's interesting how the vivid yellow in houlletiana doesn't seem to come through on any of the crosses.

Replying to this & another post elsewhere, I have apparently an Aerides odorata alba, a Korat Koki heading my way & possibly down the track, a Herman Slade division. Had a look at my other Aerides plants today, spikes everywhere. Looking very good.
