Yes, the scent is more like an expensive perfume. Quite outstanding.

Interesting. I have never seen or heard of this species before, and I thought I know a bit about vandaceous orchids. The answer I find ( courtesy of Jay, and IOSPE) is that it is a Phillipines species, and they just don't get to Europe. Their dealers come very rarely indeed - we had one come to UK last month, the first time ever that I can remember, and I have been attending all our big shows for very many years. But even then, knowing this one was coming, he never answered my e-mails asking for lists, or trying to order specific plants shown on his web-site, and the ones on his stand did not include anything I wanted.
However, coming-,back to your plant, it looks and sounds to be a dead ringer for the mainland asiatic species A. Odorata, and I do wonder if it is a synonym, although Jay lists both without comment.
But what a super plant you have grown. I have never done better than double spiked, but never grown one as big. Congratulations.

Many thanks Geoff. Aerides are hard to get at times or ever it seems. I was lucky enough to get some large plants. I've always liked them & will always have them if I can. Being actually described, it solved the issue of this plant having around 4 names.
