    Hi Murray,
Well, even in Southern Cal, we would have problem growing these vandas without a GH. The only places I know in the US that you can grow these plants outside or in an unheated GH is Southern Florida and Hawaii. They love heat and lot of light. After I move them to the highest spots in the GH (summer day temperatures could reach 95 F), they respond to the heat and light treatment very well and have been blooming like 2-3 times a year! So you need to build one. During the winter, you must keep a minimal temperature (55-60 F) so they don't get damaged. They stop growing at that point but they are OK.
    Cheers. Hoa.

Great blooms all, Hoa! All stuff I can't grow (except maybe the Onc's - which have awesome color!)

Thanks for the show. Stuff is spiking here, so I should have some summertime entertainment (on a much smaller scale!)

    Thanks Julie,
Some of these stuff you might not be able to grow, especially the vandas. But it's the orchid eyes' candies for the day, so enjoy them. The Stanhopea is the best of the lot, I think. We are quite lucky here in Southern Cal with the weather. So with a GH (maybe 2-3 different GHs), you should be able to grow all kind of orchids. BTW, I am looking forward to your summer show at some point! Hehehehehe!!!

    Hi Murray,
It's better to let other people growing those store dendrobiums. They are so cheap now. It's really not worth your effort. Your time is better spent on other more interesting orchids.

    Cheers. Hoa.

    Timmy-O,
What are ya talkin' about? A bench-ful of store dends! E-veal you!!! Hehehhehe! Actually they are the first dendrobiums that I have ever had. I learn how to grow the Dends boys through my experiments with these cheapies! After sending a bunch of them to the killing field, I figure out how to deal with them! The first lesson learned is that never ever feeling sorry for the dends. For example, a tiny little house (aka pot) is all what they need, no need to move them to a roomier pot! Or just hang them suspended in the air with a thread, they live! If you forget to water them for a week, that is all for the better! Hehehehhee! Burn them, burn them with light and heat! E-veal me, of course ...
