    Default More Dartmouth plants

Here are more of the plants in bloom from last week's visit:

First, is a Leptotes bicolor, a lovely species.

    Then a Maxillaria rufescens.

    A lovely Brassavola cucullata,

and then a weird one (a complex Zygo hybrid: Pab x Prom x Z) - a Propabstopetalum Kiwi Gold

I like all of them and I want them all too ... Hehehheee ... especially that Zygo hybrid! Is it fragrant?
Well, it seems that I like all orchids ...

That Zygo is rather unusual... good to see that not everyone likes the round ones...

And that Maxillaria is freaking me out... reminds me too much of a Cymbidium!

I think I'll take the Brassavola too!

The Zygo tag read: Alangreatwoodara, but when I researched it, I could only find Propabstopetalum. I asked Lisa this morning and this is her reply:

"Was sold to me as Alangreatwoodara
this from the Royal Horticultural Society
'Propabstopetalum was formerly known as Alangreatwoodara before the name Pabstia (and Zygopabstia) replaced Colax (and Zygocolax).'"

So is Alan Greatwood your buddy, Murray?

    Default Dartmouth

    Very nice photos Julie!

How was the Dartmouth trip? Unfortunatly, I had to deal with "Clear Writing through Critical Thinking"...so, what did I learn? The USDA gradschool guy (go figure, the USDA has a grad school) gave us brain teaser puzzles and we got to do some free writing. So, since I wasn't able to go look at orchids and talk to others about orchids, I wrote about orchids and as for the critical thinking part...well, I don't think I should write it on a public forum.

Glad to see there is more stuff in bloom. Maybe I can make it for the next round.

    :-P

The breeder of Propabstopetalum Kiwi Gold is a guy by the name of Ross TuckerHe also is the president of the New Zealand Orchid Society.
He has also managed to breed Lycaste into some as well. And yes there have just been some big name changes within that alliance
