    1. Do not leave plants on the floor when there are puppies running around!

there were seven spikes but as you can see, they are all, bar one, now bent!!!

    2. here's a close-up

Julie, I believe you said you had seen pictures where the flowers were more open... so here, you can see that this species does have more of an opening!

    3. now for an even closer look!

one way to distinguish this particular species is the way the lip (that brownish bit in the middle) is twisted!

    cheers

So Murray likes the leaves only, hehheeheeeee ... Wrong choice of plant, Timmy!

Seriously, I like the leaves too. The flowers do look like some animals/aliens with FANGS! Do you guys see the fangs (first picture)?

    Cheers. Hoa.

I have grown these plants before and they can multiply very quickly, but this is the first time that I have seen a verigated form

the variegated form certainly gives this plant that little extra... you know.. when there's no flower, it's still lovely to look at! of course, for three months every year, there's nothing there but a pot with bark, sand, perlite mix...

it's actually a fairly healthy and strong grower so hopefully there will be even more plants next year!
