    LOL! Good one, Diane!

I just saw a large BS one for sale and thought, "I should PM Diane and see if we should send a little something to Yoda..." Then I logged in here and see she beat me to it!!! Too funny!

Bruce, the fragrance has been described as "fetid". Enjoy your stinker!

Okay - this guy is "mature". He is a division from a plant that was a total of about 20 bulbs, the longest having a leaf of nearly 4 feet, that bloomed regularly. He should bloom on the next cycle if he is happy... (whatever makes a bulbo happy).

I saw one of these up for auction once. Starting bid - $1300 It was the biggest orchid I'd ever seen. The leaves were about six feet long. Very cool though.

There is an auction right now for one, 2000 is the "buy it now" price. It dwarfs the child in the picture of the plant. They like warmth.

That is the plant that this division came from.

For future reference, copy & past from grower:

Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis: "A huge leafed species, the leaf can get to 6 feet long from a bulb the size of an orange.A native of the river ravine rock faces of New Guinea and the Philippines, it is allied to the other large species like B. fletcherianum and B. macrobulbon. This species requires a basket or shallow tray with a rich media that will stay moist, but not wet (I have it in New Zealand sphagnum moss, fertilized by 20-20-20 slow release pellets). It does best mounted in a slat basket, where the leaves are allowed to grow pendulous. When in active growth, the plant requires maximum water and fertilizer. It prefers intermediate to warm temps."

    Cheers,
    BD
