Ludisia discolor

    Default Ludisia discolor

    the first 3 blooms are open!
    (i'll do some 'real' pictures when it opens more)








    silly looken thing 'aint it

    now is this thing deformed, or is that how it's supose to look? i can't tell from the photos i've found around the net...

    Funny plants, I much prefer the foliage, and cut the spike off as soon as I see it so the plant doesn't lose it's energy.

    Katie, here is a pic of the foliage, shot on Dec 19, the spike is now over a foot long
    no photograph will ever do justice to a discolor, the leaves are lush velvet & the red vanes are actually metallic!


    Diane, i am not sure that i could ever bring myself to intentionally cut the spike off of a healthy plant and besides i had to see the show at least once...

    Wow! I have never seen one of those before. The leaves are beautiful and the bloom is so unusual! Thanks for snapping photos!
