    Default Coelogyne cristata

I wish I had room for a Coelogyne species collection for I think there are so many very nice species. Alas, I don't have the room so for now I only have 4 species. This species is an easy first one for beginners for it can take quite a bit of abuse and still grow into a specimen. Here is a good article, from the Orchid Societies Council of Victoria Inc on this species.

I have a couple of Coelogyne species (mooreana and lawrenceana) and feel the same way! This one is very similar to mooreana, except yours if floofier!

right now it is draping over the edge of a 4" pot but I bet someday it is going to get huge. One of the other ones I have is intermedia and that one is going to get large too. Even the p-bulbs are larger than cristata. but the flowers are a bit smaller. It is also currently in bloom and I will post a pic of it for you.

Julie I couldn't open your link. I will try to do a search for it. I would like to see it. One of the other ones is from my local OS and she wasn't sure if it was mooreana or not..It still hasn't bloomed for me but the newest p-bulb looks mature enough to bloom, so hopefully this year. What time of the year does it bloom for you?

Beatiful bloom and photo...thanks also for the link to the article about Coelogyne species. I'm never going to get my work done at this rate! Way too much reading about orchids to be done!
