It's lovely, Nelson. I totally unfamiliar with this orchid. Can you tell us more about it?
    Thanks,
    Tami

That is gorgeous, with such a delicate hint of purple to the blooms.

Hauntingly beautiful lighting, Nelson! Wonderful photos! And a lovely bloom.

Tami, I looked this one up in Jim Cootes' book. The species was identified in 1972. The genus has two species, both of which can only be found in the Philippines. The genus name refers to the very thick leaves of the monopodial plant. It's an epiphyte. I'm sure Nelson can add more. Oh, and Nelson's photos are far superior to those in Cootes' book!

Thanks, Julie. It sure is a delicate beauty. Like so many things from the Philippines.

    Default Thank you, Julie.

I guess I am in remiss of so many queries, lol...

The plant is new and will be moved to the new place as soon as it is ready, to approximate its high-altitude environment.

I have five other plants of this that are growing slowly, I hope they're not too affected by scale thats been ravaging my other plants. Many plants have died or have stunted growth because of this, and are recovering slowly.

This morning I took some time to spray the fourth application of metamidophos (Tamaron) to get rid of it, over a schedule of 7 weeks. Imidacloprid is supposedly better for scale, but I cannot find it here.

Thank you Julie for filling in while I was somewhere else.
