    Default Coconut! Maxillaria tenuifolia

This one smells exactly like a coconut confectionary Everyone should have one! It's grassy foliage was perfect for an asian pot. I probably could have used an even taller cymbidium pot for a more balanced look.(weren't some cymbidiums classified as maxillaria before?)
I haven't had this plant for very long and it budded. I also took a cutting that was hanging over the pot and wanted it to root but it bloomed too. I must have cut it off at the wrong time. I think these guys have cuttings that are supposed to root easily.
Any hints for reblooming this one? I read of people having frustration with blooming them.

That's gorgeous Fren, and the height of the pot is perfect.

Sorry I can't help with cultural advice.

Wow---great plant. I don't know much about Maxillarias--but I might have to study up for one that smells like coconut (yum). I love the little red flowers too. Where do you grow this?

    Super photos, Fren!

Gin has one that does well for her. Her photos inspired me to pick up one last summer, but mine hasn't bloomed yet, so I'll listen carefully to her advice.

It is beautiful Fren. They like bright light and fair humidity to keep the leaf ends from browning. I fertilize mine once a month a little more often in the spring and summer with liquid fertilizer. I also mist the leaves with a diluted fertilizer when I mist the Vandas.
    Happy Growing.
