Gosh..the culture of these plants about drove me batty before I could successfully grow and bloom them. The plant is only about 9" tall when completely mature. I guess the clonal name is Rorshach after the inkblots...

So beautiful. I love milts, but they ARE tough to grow--and a little picky. My problem is that it just gets too hot here for them and they like it nice and cool.

So is temperature the main thing that makes them tricky? It's usually on the cool side here; maybe I should give them a try. Charming, Clint!

Temp and hjmidity are HUGE to these plants.

Daily highs of 72-77F and nightly lows of 59-63F and humidity no less than 50% at any time. Under low humidity, the new growths accordian pleat so much that they almost 'rip' themselves off the plant. Also, I'm an under-waterer, so I really have to watch these. They so resent drying out even for a short period.

Sigh. I can do cool, but I can't do humid. Maybe S/H would give it an edge? That helps most of my oncs not to pleat so badly.

It might be worth a try, Lynda. I know Colorado and its alpine climate doesn't lend itself well to humidity. I have relatives in Manitou Springs and summer humidity there averages like 12%!

    Default Thanks!

I love cachepots. Plastic pots are too plain and ugly to display such a nice plant.

They are hard to grow here in Arkansas too. We grow only one and it lives directly against the cool cell. It blooms for us every year, but always looks like hell because of the heat.

I really like yours, Clint. The ink-blot in the center is very unique!

    Cheers,
    BD
