    Default Acronia gargantua

This is the largest flowering Pleurothallis known. It has been placed into it's segregate genus Acronia. The leaves on this species are HUGE, but the growths are shorter than some species (like Acronia titan). This thing has TONS of buds and flowers, but I haven't been able to photograph any of the Pleurothallids nicely... sorry for the poor photography.

I like these guys! We have one with a similar flower, but the leaves are not so large as these appear. Nice growing!

    Cheers,

Are they difficult to grow? With leaves that big, I am presuming that they need quite a bit of room.

I love this plant and grow it outside most of the year in SF.

I personally would not view it as a good windowsill grower because of the size of the leaves and need for high humidity and air movement.

I suspect it has been done by some though.
