Encyclia polybulbon in bloom
This little guy has taken forever to open up and still not all the way. After re-reading some culture notes I think he has not gotten enough sun. There is another bud that is coming on a lot faster and maybe this one will open sooner and bigger. Any way thought you would like to see this cutie, he's suppose to be fragrant but I can't smell anything.

Very nice! I just started getting interested in Encyclias, and I'm liking what I'm seeing more and more! Thanks for sharing the photo!

ang709 I don't have any other Encyclias but, this one is a real cutie. It's got nice bulbs and it's got such pretty flowers. I haven't had any real problems with growing it, it seems pretty happy with what I give it.

I believe they changed the genus name on this one. It is now Dinema polybulbon. It takes less light than most Encyclias. Your flower seems very pale for this species
Here is a pic of mine for comparison

I've been wondering about the light situation. I'm glad you mentioned this and I will make sure that it gets less light. Thanks.

What conditions are you using for these little guys? I'm not having much luck with mine, one mounted and one potted. Both seem to be very prone to rot, esp. the newer leaves...
