The second photo is very clear, Ron. I can see why you said in another post that you love this time of the year. You have so many plants in bloom. Nice!

The presentation on this neo is great.

    Cheers,
    BD

We went to a local nursery today which have a few orchids found a lot of these little beauties. The owner of the Nursery did not know the name and told me they were "window orchids". Thanks to this forum and to Ron for posting the photos, it didn't take me long to find out, only 3 hrs.

I had to stop myself from buying one because they seem a little expensive at $23 and not sure if it will stay alive under my care. Oh, the owner of the nursery also said that the flower smells good at night.

Ron, I'm just wondering if you can share how you take care of these little ones. The owner of the nursery was not very friendly and made me feel like I was bothering her.

    Thanks,

I also have one of these. Yours looks fantastic! I see you potted it the Japanese way (mound).

I wouldn't use bark or a bark mix with them.

For me the traditional Japanese method works great but I need to redo it on a yearly basis. I will be repotting them within the next month. I will take some pics as I go along.

Here is the site that I used for learning this method. I use method #2 I then alter it by sticking a couple of Styrofoam peanuts into the cavity, prio to snugging it into a clay pot.

I keep them fairly moist during the growing season and in the winter I place them into the "greenhouse window" that I installed over my kitchen sink. It faces south so the light is as bright as I can get it in the winter and it also stays very cool. I cut back considerably on watering in the winter and allow them to dry between waterings.

It looks like I've been doing it all wrong. I let mine dry out almost completely between waterings and did give it a winter rest by only watering it once every 2 weeks. No wonder it doesn't spike. It grew a small sprout but it's not growing quickly at all. I haven't seen a new root either. I'll try the "keeping it moist" way for now and see what it does.
