Interesting little flowers. Are the top two pics from the same plant? The colors of the flowers are quite different.

They are from the same spike actually. The yellowish photo was taken with my old Olympus C5060 which I learned has an algorithm partial to green colors.

The whitish photo was taken with the Canon 400 XTi, with a ring flash.

Whoa... And my mom keeps asking me why the same orchid can look so different on different sellers' sites....

    Well, now we know...

So which one is the 'true' color with the naked eye?

(yes, truth itself is deceptive and perception-based, it's rare we get to bear physical witness to this fact so easily...)

with the naked eye is almost identical to the one showing the spikes. There is a very light yellow-greenish (more yellow than green) tint to the blooms.

The ring flash has a burst of intense white light that flattens out and overpowers the true color. On the other hand, it works better in certain situations, like the tiny B. catenulatum and elassoglossum blooms. (That is why I want to see what the soon-to-be-released Olympus EP1 would perform...but if I have it, I would probably have difficulty giving up the two older ones).

Interesting pictures. Can anyone say Earthworm Jim (first pic).
The blue one looks like it's under a black light, very nice.
