Coelogyne xyrekes Ridl. 1915 Sect speciosae

Jay Pfahl says late winter bloomer but it has always been a summer bloomer for me. I grow it fairly shady in a lined plastic basket. It hasn't been a quick grower for me but maybe after it gets better established. It blooms successively on a fairly short 3" [7.5 cm]inflorescence with 3-4 flowers.

It is native to Penninsular Malaysia in montane forests at elevations of 700 to 1900 meters.

From googling, my flower is darker than most. It is a warm to cool grower. It has a single plicate apical leaf. I would call it a medium-sized plant.

    Synonyms Coelogyne xanthoglossa Ridl. 1915
