    I like it too. The bloom is so evanescent. It stays open for only about two hours.

    Thirty minutes after taking photos it was already fully closed. I had to abandon other things to do. After the photos it was already half closed.

    Now that's interesting. Does it have multiple blooms? How often does it bloom? Aren't you lucky you caught it when it was open! Congrats!

    Default My other williamsii had only single blooms.

    However this one, a new acquisition, has many dried up spikes.

    You were so lucky to capture it on film it is so short lived. Wow. It is an intense color and design. BRAVO!

    I've never seen a bulbo shaped quite like that. Thanks, Nelson!

    I'm always amazed when I hear about flowers that are so incredibly short-lived. As "expensive" flowers are to produce energy-wise, just seems like a plant that has invested that much energy to make a flower would keep it for a longer period of time.
