Default Epi porpax var alba +

Not too long ago I posted a pic of my normal color variety. Epi porpax was the first species that I started my collection with. This alba was received this past spring in trade. It starts blooming later than my normal colored form

I'm guessing it is a mini?

Very nice Ron and great photography! Is it harder to grow than the regular coloured weedy variety?

It doesn't seem to be any harder to grow.
The growths are about 4" and the flower about 1/2"

This is one of those plants the taxonomists can't seem to agree on the name of. For years, it was Epidendrum porpax. A few years ago, I heard it was now Neolehmannia porpax. (Anyone have a clue on the pronunciation of that genus???) According to a commercial software I have access to, the "most currently accepted name" is Epidendrum peperomia. The publication of that name does predate Epidendrum porpax by a year, so I suppose it should be correct. That, of course, is assuming you agree this plant belongs in Epidendrum at all. I'm inclined to think it doesn't, since it's so different from other Epis, but at least I can pronounce Epidendrum! Anyhow, whatever you choose to call it, it's a nifty little plant. Ron, I really like your orchid collection!

    Cheers,

    Rob
