    Mabuhay!
@kiwiorchids, cattan, BD and zainal...thank you all. I just have a question for you folks : are you the right people to ask on how can i stop my orchid addiction? hehehehehe

Anyway, i forgot to post this yesterday. Just as i was to climb to transfer my vanda i saw this cute little guy....my first time to ever see a "higad" or a white caterpillar. No, i didn't kill it though i know it'll eat leaves of my plants.

    thank you all Godbless

I don't think there is any cure for orchid addiction. You just keep collecting till you run completely out of room.

    cheers,

I agree with BD for me I will choose those producing more attractive flower and long lasting bloom, I prefer species over the hybrids.He.He

    Mabuhay!

Wow, its been raining for the past 2 days now. Anyway, its both a blessing and a challenge because we all know the potential outbreaks continuous rain can bring to our orchids of course aside from massive floods and landslides.

    anyhow, just wanna share...
    before

    after

    Default spoke to soon

    Mabuhay!

    Challenges :

    1) the sun hasn't been shining for far to long and the relentless rain is ever so insistent . Then, according to our weather bureau its going to be like that for around 8-10 days. Not only i fear for my orchids but for the people in low lying or in areas where flood could become disastrous.

    2) One of the problems in putting your orchids on trees is that I can't just bring the trees inside my home.

    3) As mentioned before, my neighbor just cut down their chico tree because they are building somewhat an edifice that would surely shut off the sunshine on that part of my garden for an indefinite time.

    oh well, Godbless

    Default a new addition

    Mabuhay!

i bought this for around $8 from my trusted seller.

and this is how its flower looks like when in full bloom (fresh bloom)

---my gosh the price difference between an orchid with fresh blooms and spent blooms are quite wide that's why i told her if ever she gets cattleyas with spent blooms that she should sell it to me. hehehehhe

this one is a cutting which i bought for $2...

    thanks.

    Godbless

Default Mycaranthes leonardoi U. Ferreras & W. Suarez,

    Mabuhay!

I got this pic from Philippine Native Plants Conservation Society, Inc. on facebook. Mycaranthes leonardoi U. Ferreras & W. Suarez, orchid named after the great Filipino Botanist Leonardo L. Co. But it is really spectacular. Anyone who has this kind of orchid?

    enjoy.
