Would it be a good idea to apply fertilizer in the morning after a heavy rain last night? Or does anyone do this?

    Pls advise.

    Hi Uly,
yes, best time for fertilizing, while the roots are still soggy.
your orchid could be Cleisostoma uraiense, my guess for now.

Uly I havent visited this thread for quite a while.... you have amazed such beautiful plants. I also wanted to get one of those grammatophylum wallisii a few weeks back how ever they have ran out of the small ones, and the ones that are left are too huge to fit the car. BTW that coelogyne looks like marmorata to me.

Thumbs up Just a little update and other stuff

    Mabuhay!

thank you all for visiting and complimenting my journey..thank you so much.

    @ron...thank you for the info.

@delphinguy.....thank you so much. Though i'm not sure what type of gramma i bought if it is the walisiii or the speciosum. Anyway, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will thrive in my garden. and also, i hope that the coelogyne will live in my environ. thanks.

    Updates :

I was able to meet with a chatter here yesterday that goes by the name of JOEZL. And he handed me over this beautiful orchids:
    Vanda Rattan something....

We went to Baclaran and was able to buy this stuff for $2 :

i took a shot of the latter's flower:

And my coelogyne, i mounted it on a branch of my mango tree:

Slight OT and stuff that i bought from the Orchid and Garden Show:
Banana plantlets (local terms : the big one is the Saba and slender one is the Latondan)

I forgot to ask the name of the plants but the flowers are fragrant :

This one i salvage from a dumpsite. It's the spot where people (sorry to say including us) throw our biodegrables and burn them

Niyog-niyogan (Chinese honeysuckle/ Rangoon Creeper/ Quisqualis Indica 6) native Philippine herbal traditional medicinal plant. ---vendor information removed - see faqs on posting.----
I am telling you the flowers are really fragrant and changes color from red to white and vice-versa. I hope it'll grow and thrive in my garden.

    Enjoy.

    Godbless

I got this pic from Philippine Native Plants Conservation Society, Inc. on facebook. Mycaranthes leonardoi U. Ferreras & W. Suarez, orchid named after the great Filipino Botanist Leonardo L. Co. But it is really spectacular. Anyone who has this kind of orchid?

    enjoy.
    Godbless

    Hey Uly,

You forgot to mention that it also has the name of one of our dear colleagues Wally Suarez attached to the plant.

    Cheers!

Looks more like a Coelogyne merrilli to me. The marmorata has darker, brownish coloration on the lip while merrilli leans towards the orange color.
