I was just wondering .... will the (redwood) wood be long-lasting and strong enough to withstand continous watering later? Over time it could rot and then eventually break down unless you've treated it with some sort of wood-decay preservative or painted it. I notice that the benches you used for your cymbidiums are plastic ???? These would be stronger and more water-resistant (although not resistant to UV from the sunlight .... well you have the net though for protection).

That's what's so nice over there in the U.S. (in California) - you've got sprawling, big lawns. Enough space to house lots of orchids.
Unlike here in Manila, huge lot areas are becoming uncommon since most new residential houses being built follow the smaller townhouse-style design and others are high-rise condominiums sprouting in the city like mushrooms.

Most residential homes with ample lawn space are located outside of the main city of Manila, in the nearby provinces or farther away.

    I'm envious.
Yeah, I can't wait to see them in bloom although it may take another year or two since most of them are just re-potted early this year. Cali is getting crowded too, a lot of newly built houses don't have huge yards anymore.

You should get a place in the Province not too far from Manila so you can house a lot of orchids..lol. Back then our neighbors in Pampanga have their orchids in their front yards on big drift woods, and sometimes they water them with the water that they used to clean the fish.

The wood bench may last a couple of years. The plastic benches are from a 4 tier racks that I disassembled which is cheaper compared to the wooden bench which cost me $20 to make including the blocks, whereas the 4 tier racks only cost me $39.

Default Shade house update with more cyms.

Me and my friend just acquired about 70 more cymbidiums (about 50 are mine) in 1, 3,4,5 gal. pots and all of them are overgrowing and in desperate need to be re-potted and divided which almost filled the shade house and made it look like a jungle. Photo #3 is a Black Sambo, it was too heavy that I can barely lift it and had to support it with a wire attached to the pipe. The 4th photo is a madidum.
