How deep is the greenhouse floor below ground level?

The epiweb tubes look great. I think there's going to be a large spike in epiweb enthusiasts here in the USA because of those pictures

*lol* Maybe your was is not antique...But I think you have to put a lot of more work into it. I have 4 large tubes, with about 400 plants, they have automatic watering 5 times a day, and lights are controlled with a timer. I don't need to replant, only when the plant out grows the slab. I need to make sure the tubes/walls have water thou, but that I do once a week.

The 1 000 orchids that are in the GH is since last summer on the same type of system. It's very easy to take with you when we go to exhibitions

Wow Lika, that is quite the system you have going there! What a wonderful refuge you have from the brutal Swedish winter. All of your "babies" look very snug and content!

The epiweb is sure a cool device. That would be great because it saves on the time spent to water the plants and also prevents overwatering and disease specially on the plant leaves because only the mounting media and root area is kept humid. Just like in nature where orchids grown on trees just get water from rain trickling down on the trunks and the root area is kept humid without leaves getting wet.

That would be a great device specially here in Manila.

On closer inspection of the photos it looks like an easy device to fabricate locally - looks like a pipe frame probably with fine holes drilled on the sides and then wire mesh and foam matting and some sort. The cylindrical model looks like similar construction except that the water is supplied by a hose system flowing down from the top like a drip/trickle system.

The synthetic foam sure looks like a good substitute for the traditional tree fern slab since it won't rot easily (or do they decompose eventually??). This sure would sell well here among orchid enthusiasts if it were available locally in Manila.

Hmmm ..... am I beginning to sound too technical here?? LOL!

Just wondering why this is called "Epiweb"? I wonder where that name came from or what it stands for?
