Default Orchid in a pine tree

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what this is? It is growing in our front yard out of some kind of an air plant. It is almost 5 ft tall from the air plant. Some of the buds are beginning to open with a white flower. The appear to have some type of yellow stamen. ??

    Thanks,

    Trish

That's the flower spike for that plant.

I don't know, it looks like some sort of aloe or bromelia. Not an orchid for sure!

I think it is a tillandsia or air plant. Many have lovely colorful flowers. You should be able to id the plant by the flowers....good luck.

Sorry for my ignorance. I should not have used the term "orchid" for this plant. Please remember I am new to all of this.

Actually; until I lived in Florida i'd never heard of an airplant. And don't feel "ignorant"...we were all new to this at one point. All questions are welcome because there is probably someone else lurking wanting to know the same thing, but they are too shy to ask.
