That looks great!!! About the additional space you are going to add for your other plants...don't forget to add space for those plants that you do not yet have!

I'm going to really try and limit myself from this point on. Most of the plants I have, I love. The old crosses of vandas and the species are what I'm going to concentrate on. I don't want anything that has been cloned to death. I have a source for seedlings that are being made from very old divisions of awarded plants.
I'm going to get rid of most of the catts, laelias and dendrobs. Keeping a few for mostly sentimental reasons.
Because I would like to grow species Phals and can grown them in minimal space by hanging mounted plants on the walls I think that will be my new venture? I'm just terrible at growing them. So, we will see how frustrated I get.
..by the way, the plastic has to go up this weekend!! It was 57 in my backyard this morning. THAT is pretty rare this early in the fall.

Lol! It is interesting to look back and see the hobby from a younger generations perspective. I loved all things tropical from plants to frogs and tarantulas but it was very isolating at the time, no one to share the hobby with, atleast now I dont care and the neighbours seem to invite themselves in to share the subject. Those occassions when you were threatened with orchid eviction! Jordan! glad to see you considered back up plans.

You did a great job and I'm sure it will take "form" in a few months. The plastic should go BELOW the shade cloth so it gets some protection from UV light and last longer.

This shade house Cathy empty would be quite pleasant, but filled to the rafters with your beautiful, so very robust Vanda's, it is beyond any expectations I had. I have plans for my green house also to make the 'chids' more comfortable. Congratulations to you! AL

I've decided to not put on any shade cloth till the spring. I don't have enough sun as it is in fall and winter. The sun moves just enough that I get light shade that the vandas do not like. I'm going to do straight plastic for winter. I think I'm going to devise a way to install polycarbonate panels for next year's winter time. I can put them in place and remove them for spring and summer.

I think maybe you should have just started by using the four corners of the yard, and covered it all.LOL You are one fantastic vanda grower, what are your secrets? After a couple of weeks you'll have it all worked out. Great set up!!!
