You do notice things, my friend! No- not at all: Cymbidiums are terrestrial anyway... it's just that I like to have some sort of uniformity, I guess... also I feel that seethru pots are perhaps less obtrusive visually. Even for the epiphytes the seethru pots are not necessary AT ALL: they just look better (maybe) AND you can see a bit how the roots are doing. It is hard to find pots small enough though, even at a big show- like hens' teeth!- they get sold out in a flash... so some of my miniatures are still in the usual kind of plastic pot.

Cattleyas: you have to go to an orchid nursery for those, or buy online (as I do). It is incredibly exciting when you see them doing well, forming buds and watching them open ever so s-l-o-w-l-y over days and days. A little bit of you feels: wow, I've done that! Get yourself some if you like them, Clive! Life's too short anyway.

Long time no see Clive!!lol. Ive never seen any cattelyas (professional/ business) for sale this side of the pond except one time a small grouping of 5 -6 hybrids (main garden centre), fragrance was heavenly but my close inspection found they had severe root rot/ sodden wet decomp media. That really!"£$%67*9900 me off! very disppointed that day so bought one or two noid orchids. Ok .......3..............oh god! alright then! 6! The catts wobbled like a jelly on a stick, I see those orchid/cattleya nurseries are popular over the otherside. Sometimes on popular auction site but caution required. There is one in auction now or just ended. Because item phtos were varied it signified bacterial. funga infection and while the one new lead is duo flowering and sproutin roots, its doomed as nasties make their way all around within the plant,
