Maura, its a lovely setup you have....well organized! I certainly couldn't keep up with that number of plants in my space! I'm lucky to be able to find my keys most mornings! I certainly understand your interest in SH.

Matt - I am gratified by your contributions to this thread, but I have to confess that your mind is far too limber and high velocity for this middle-aged retiree to keep up with. Perhaps some ginseng tea will help me at some point....

Thanks, Jason! Looks can be deceiving, believe me - I am currently working on the requirement of killing my weight in orchids and rapidly approaching my goal, I think. Semi-Hydro has been very good for my free time, but it has lulled me into forgetting to water them at all! But seriously - we are fortunate to have our little corner of peace and serenity here in the middle of Atlanta and we are very grateful for it, indeed.

By the way, how is the Sorcerer's Apprentice stud doing?

Just beautiful. How you must laugh at my anxieties over my tiny collection! Your grow area is beautiful, and the bonsai is amazing! Lucky you have a plant loving significant other! Mine has said "don't you have enough orchids?" ha! Little does he know what's in store....

Just hang in there, Stacie - non-orchid people eventually reach the point of resignation, if nothing else - or, just pull up some of my photos to show hoe REALLY out-of-hand it can get!

Twas certainly easier to describe 'triffids' with images Maura, many 'sayings' incorporating the word for monstrous plants live on just as 'old wives tales' 'myths' and cliche. Not seen 50s/60s movies but definetly inspiring the more modern film with the giant fly trap, 'little shop of horrors' was a big thing in my child years. Little Shop of Horrors is a off broadway American comedy horror rock musical Dir Frank OZ, 1986 and so this film was a remake and was released with actors Rick moranis Steve Martin. Eventually attentions transferred to living plants and here we are. Never got that giant fly trap for christmas???????????

If 'limber' and 'high velo' refer to a crazy multi faceted imagination then definetly yes, a concept developed and encouraged in school years to balance the compulsive obssessive traits to control unnecessary respiratory unrest through anxiety. 'Oblivious' was the best medicine. Very lucky to have had guidance tuition in a state school,

And theres alot more to that middle aged retiree whose stress almost destroyed her very soul when sabotage revealed its ugly face in the guise of bitterness and spite last year. That was one hell of a bounce back and return.Your gorgeous photos indicate to me that im not the only one who dedicates so much time and effort into securing, safe0guarding and controlling as much as possible that one prided comfort zone hide out so mandatory to mental well being.

Those orchids certainly give you no choice but to keep up.!

Maura; I am amazed you can keep 150 orchids in the space you have available.I am sure organizing and repostioning takes you quite sometime and if your like me it is not a exact science to do these things, especially as the position of the Sun and the seasons change. I also see microclimates in my small greenhouse so as you mentiomed in a previous post it does not take much space to see a difference in growing conditions. Thank goodness it's mostly manageable! Keep up the successful efforts. AL
