That root keiki is amazing ! Didn't know it is possible to reproduce that way. Also what sets off blooming in Philippines for your Phals where the temperature is constant all year round??

Unfortunately that keiki died due to 3 weeks of non-stop rain.

the typhoon and monsoon rains cools the land and that triggers blooming. I have several phals in spike/bloom now. the lueddes are stubborn though but maybe it is not their season yet.

Not yet and it is a bit difficult to get coconut shells (the hard shell w/o the husk) here in my area.

Man I feel you about the rain...Same here in Thailand, but not so much here in the North where I am. We keep getting rain for like 3 days then it clears for a day then starts again.I had to move some of my plants to my portico so they would dry...About the coconut thing...My wife and I use the husk not the shell part. We plant in the whole husk with the nut removed, like a hanging planter...I am planning to upload pics as soon as I get them organized. Try to keep dry...The season is almost over..Peace out.
