I find it hard to keep the humidity up indoors even with the humidity trays.

This time next year you'll have to move house to accommodate your growing collection. They all look very nice and healthy.

I like hanging the mounted orchids off the inside of the big containers there! That's a smart way to handle them inside.

What's with the stacked containers? Are those sort of terrarium-like?

I grow indoors, probably under similar conditions to yours. I use humidity trays, plus I mist heavily every day with a spray bottle. I actually water about once a week. People will tell you not to mist that often, that it will encourage root rot, etc., but the only time I got root rot was early on, and at that time I was misting like that twice a day. I still have trouble with oncidiinae and others that like fairly constant moisture, too. I think in most homes/offices, you can count on losing enough water, constantly, that frequent misting ends up working.

The humidity issue is a problem for many window growers. I have problems with cold dry winters that dry up the brick walls and they just suck up the moisture during the summer. My solution have been to fill my windowsill to the last spot, this creates a micro climate that is better but moving plants around and check for problems every week is nessesary.
To be honest this was not a planed action. It just happend when the collection expanded uncontrolled during my first year as an orchid addict

For my windowsill orchid collection, My dad and I built a grow table with humidity trays, which brought my humidity from 11% to 40%. I added a fogger in a large pitcher of water for each level of the table (that I keep the lid slightly on - they spit water- and fill up every morning) that brought it up to 80% when I fill and 65% by nightfall. It's a kind of nice effect also, with the fog flowing around my collection. Of course, I keep a fan blowing over them as well :0)

Amey, yes I've just added about 4 more and waiting on 4 more to come this week. Such a bad orchidaholic. Susie, actually we are moving in October.. so yeah I will have a bigger set up at the new place. Victoria, I guess they are a sort of a mini terrarium. Those are my vanda seedlings that I unflasked. I uncover them on and off for air circulation and dry off time but pop the lid on lopsided just to keep the humidity levels higher than the bigger plants. They can handle being in the open, but they dry out too quickly because of lack of humidity in my home. The glass vase is my mini terrarium for my only ghost Orchid. I mist 1X daily but depending on the plant may hold off full watering.
Cassandra I would love to see a picture of your set up. I've been thinking of swiping the humidifier from the upstairs bedroom.
So far I've been able to get get two brassavola nodosa's and a Dend. Spectabile from seedling to spiking. One has 6 spikes, the other 3 spikes and the Dend. has one sheath. I'm so excited.
