    Default Magnus A´s growing areas

    Hi

I live in Uppsala, Sweden, in the far north. That mean that we have very long days in the summers and very short days in the winter and extra light in the winter is needed for many species. The temperature goes from about -15 C (5F) to +27 C (81F) normally, but it is not uncommon with even more extreme temperaturers, both in winter and summer.

This is where I grow my orchid:

First my orchid window in my living room. It is quite emty now as I have moved some orcid to my balcony. You can also spot my extralight, a 150 W MH.

Next is my growing cabinet, it is a large custom built terrarium that have had two owner before me. The background and bottom are waterproofed with epoxy resin and glas fibre. The light is 4*54 W T5 and a 150 W MH. I also have an extra 150 W MH on a tripod in front of the cabinet to get an extra punch during some time every year. The cabinet is not particular crawded but also here are plants missing that is outside on the balcony.
The dimention: the bottomis 120*120 cm (roughly 4'*4') with a cut corner for doors and the height is 150 cm (roughly 5')

Very impressive Magnus! Your adaptations and use of technology seem to serve your orchids well. Great set ups. AL

    Thank´s everyone!

The terrarium is a blessing but very hard to illuminate in a good way with limited budget mostly due to the height. I had some luck to get my hands on it.
