Default Orchid/ Dog Room or surviving marriage while growing Orchids!

When we decided build an addition to our house, my wife wanted a room in which she could groom her dogs. I suggested a multipurpose room for both dogs and orchids.Below are pictures of our best attempt to build a Orchid/Dog room. Space was limited but the room has served it's functions well. The first photograph shows the general layout of the room. The second picture shows the dog bathing/potting bench area. Compromise can be good-- how else would you get a granite potting bench! My wife says that I am slowly taking over the room so the third picture shows that Orchids have somehow found their way to the grooming area. The final picture is Annie's Song of Tara (a co-occupant of the room).

Make sure your wife understands that you're trying to increase the "spa" ambiance for her lucky dog. How thoughtful of you!

    Love the room!

How ever do you have time? Finishing up your doctorate alone is impressive, and we all know you're the expert at orchids, ... and show dogs? What kind of dogs, Amey?

Thank each of you for your kind comments. We do use the room at the same time. In the morning I will be watering and Rita plans to organize her dog grooming potions and tools. It is not uncommon for Rita to brush and comb while I am watering and potting. The only problem is that the room tends to stay warmer than Rita would like. We have become a strangely effective orchid team. Rita likes to go to orchid shows and buys plants that appeal to her. It then becomes my job to meet the needs of the plants she selects. This has worked suprisingly well. Without Rita's help I would never have purchased Laelias and Bulbophyllums. These are now among my favorite orchids to grow.
