    Default Orchid Corner Inside House

Hello, everyone. I have learned so much from seeing the growing environments of others. Here is my humble growing area. My orchids literally grow in the east/south corner of my home. Fortunately, the house has large windows and each area has its own microclimate both on the windowsill and on the tile floor. Even thought the house stays at a constant temp between 70-74degrees (depending on the season) the orchids get to experience some seasonal variation. I am still learning which type of orchid prefers which area to grow.

This is a picture of the east window (on left) that receives about 3 hours of direct morning sun, then bright light the remander of the day. The floor receives about 2.5 hours of sunlight then bright defused light. The oncidiums love the floor and the breakfast table.

This is the south window (on right) that receives filtered sun all day, some spotted sun during the fall/winter months.

This is also a south window that recives direct sunlight from about 11am to 3pm depending on the season; bright indirect sunlight the remainder of the day. The cattaleyas like this windowsill.

very nice, be careful in the summertime that your plants do not get too much sun so close to the window (avoid burning). good luck
