Post My upstairs verandah is home to my many orchids

I am pretty much a newbie at orchid growing, my collection is around 100 plants and my wonderful (orchid tolerant) husband has not yet built the promised orchid house, so my upstairs verandah (that is blessed with a beautiful morning sun) is the home for most of my collection.

I can't wait to get more room!!!

It looks like a perfect spot. Does it stay warm year around where you are?

Yes, we live right on the Tropic of Capricorn at the coast so with the exception of about two weeks in mid-June (where the temp can plumit to 0-10 degrees overnight) and about two weeks in January (where the temp can reach 30-40 degrees during the day) our temps range between 20-30 celcius consistently all year around with a gentle south-easterly breeze. Being on the coast, we have much less humidity than people would expect. My verandah gets direct morning sunshine between about 7.00 to 8.00am then just light for the rest of the day. We had a major cyclone February this year that wiped out lots of trees and folliage on my property so it is hard to keep the phals from getting sunburnt leaves even in these conditions however everyone of them have got more blooms this year so it is a mixed story. All of my tropical orchids are absolutely thriving with the extra light and warmth.
