    Default The orchid hospital

This is my new arrival/sick bay area. I got this unit last fall thinking it would take me a couple of years to fill it up. Oh well. I put newly mounted plants, very small divisions, mini and species Phal.'s on top of the large black net pots. They are filled with moist sphagnum. Sort of an experiment.

The top shelf is where I have my seedlings and recently acquired divisions. I keep smaller repots here for a couple of weeks as well.

Middle shelf shelf is for my divisions and failing to thrive plants.

I keep holiday cactus and cuttings/divisions from non orchids on the bottom shelf. Figured that wouldn't be of much interest. Trade Day at our local society meeting today. Hope I get something on my "I want one list!"

Very nice. What kind of light do you have hanging there? I recently acquired a shelving unit and may need to look into some artificial lighting.

Thanks Traci! Its actually a three tier grow unit with built in light fixtures. The lights are 4' long and the shelves are 16" wide so it gave me about 20 more square of growing area. The lights are out dated but it was $65 if memory serves. I think I can update the fixtures but have to learn how.
