Aaaaaargh!!!

It is not the tech that gets me, it is the people!

Conversation today, with neighbor:

neighbor: "Hi, you know computers! have you got time to help me with a computer thing?"

me: "not right now but maybe this evening, what kind of thing?"

neighbor: "I'm trying tofind out why i didn't get my stimulus check"

me: "You mean you need help logging onto the IRS site?"

neighbor: "No, I mean I need to get my stimulus check and you know about computers so you can go to that site and get my stimulus check, right?"

me: "I can go to the IRS.GOV site and print off the "request form" for assistance, then you can fill it out and mail it in."

neighbor: "but why didn't I get my stimulus check? You can't find out from the computer?"

me: "no, that is not a computer question, that is a tax question. I don't do taxes."

Neighbor goes off in huff. I return to my errands.

can you get a few stimuli checks for me while you are at it

That's too funny. Sounds like your neighbor needs more "stimulus" than just in check form.

Yeah, that's where Bush is hiding all the money! In a back file of the IRS website that a rinky-dink web-hobbyist can get into! *LOL*

Btw, all you have to do to get your stimulus check is file your taxes as usual. Only people who file taxes will get it....maybe your neighbor forgot to file....

Or he didn't qualify, but I think that applies to very few people.

He's on Social Security and says he earned $500 last year. I asked him if whoever he worked for took taxes out, because if they pay out less than $600 they don't have to file employment records, but in that case they are not supposed to be deducting taxes, so they owe him. He didn't answer, so I suspect it was all under the table.

My daddy once told me that if you work "under the table" you never can stand up.

You're only eligible if you earned $3000 or more in the year. Less than $3000, no check for you...

So you don't have the neighbor that wants to sell his house and gets mad when you won't print out 50-100 pages for them?? I actually made a neighbor mad because I told him I was out of ink...and I really really was! That would be the same neighbor who asked to "borrow" a chainsaw and when my girlfriend showed up with one he assumed she was going to cut the whole tree down for him for free! He stands over 6 ft and was expecting my 5ft 5 friend to do it all for him. lol When they put their house up for sale we about cheered!

Wow....nice neighbor!!! I hate it when people can't figure things out for themselves...like hey, why don't you make some phone calls to the IRS or figure out how to use a mouse and computer and fend for yourself? Honestly...
