    Default Is it only me?

I watched tv for about ten minutes over the weekend. is it only me who wonders how these tv reporters can spend all their time talking about how "the media" never asks the candidates the right questions without once mentioning that THEY are "the media"? Why don't THEY ask these unasked questions? And what are these unasked questions, anyway?

I already know more than I want to know about every politician they cover! (although they haven't told us which candidate's mom used "Pampers" and which one used "Huggies")

And another thing: in that same ten minute period, channel-surfing for air, I came across Larry King & Bill Maher talking about the two-party system and Bill Maher "explained" that the reason we don't have a multi-party system like some other countries is because of our constitution.....

HUH???? When did THAT get written into the US Constitution?

I always thought it was because we have a big country that makes it too expensive for a small party to organize enough signatures to get on a ballot, but if they can do it, they get on!

As far as the main stream media--they are bought and sold by corporate interests. It's not like the good old days of investigative reporting...

The two party system and our Constitution? Never heard that one...

I have an idea to make a lot of money: coins to hit the market the day before election day, with one candidate on each side! *LOL* (but to be sure, this year is not as close in my mind as past years have been)

Then look at the polls after Obama chose Biden (dead heat). He really cut himself in the "you know what" by not selecting Hillary. Lord help us survive the geriatric McCain!

Actually what is surprising is that the american constitution, though very progressive when compared to other constitutions in the 18th century, protects civil rights in the form of amendments which can be amended or repealed, whereas most european constitutions contain a "hard core" which can never be changed like the form of democracy/republic, the three dimensions of state power (judicial, legislative and executive) and the civil rights.
I only hope the american economy will rebound after the elections...it really has been a bad year on world economy.

We sit and watch with a great deal of dread, the coming election. At this point I would rather vote for a third party candidate. But again, for some reason, we have become stuck with only two losers to chose from. I am praying that McCain will choose a VP that we can count on to do a good job.

I know all candidates have major players whispering in their ears. That's why I don't feel we should criticize Obama for 'changing his mind' on issues - we all have to learn. And he has very experienced people telling him what to think. It's those people I don't want in the White House.
Warts and all, McCain has his own ideas but has been willing to consider opposing ideas and compromise with those who don't agree with him in order to get the job done. A plan that can be refined is better than no plan at all.
Ok off my soap box. GO OUT AND VOTE!!!

I am only 37 but this is the first time in my voting lifetime that there has been 2 candidates that are actually worth voting for. No politician is perfect; they all have made bad decisions and said bad things but I think we have a real chance for a shift in the direction of government in America. Unfortunately, the President is but one of the 3 divisions of power in the United States. It is very positive that, regardless of who wins, GWB is out of the White House!

That is the power of democracy - that we do have division of power and not a king. Of course, if we had a king I would vote for Bill Cosby!
