Thanks. We are fine here. The lightning, I was told last night, actually struck pole in front of my house and the surge traveled into my house through the coaxial cable of the internet line. I am not sure how that blew-out my door bell since it is on a separate circuit all together, but we are slowly getting everything repaired and turned back on. The newest discovery this morning was that it looks like it also hit our laptop computer that was plugged in and charging the battery. bummer. It was only about a year old.
I installed a CyberPower battery backup and surge protector between the wall and my computer now. It also takes the Ethernet cable and runs it through the surge protection too. I was using a power-strip with a surge protector, but that was also how that laptop upstairs got whacked.
As far as I know we only had strong wind and rain. I don't think we had tornadoes, but since we rarely see that kind of thing here in the foot-hills of the Ozarks, it was pretty scary. When going to get the new router and stuff last night, I saw a power pole that was standing at about a 45 degree angle out over the road. I guess that is why we still have electricity and many other do not. If it had fallen, then we would probably still be without power.
Thanks for your thoughts and concern. We are fine and our pets, home and orchids all seem fine too.
