end of last month. My dad had been expressing the desire to go canoeing for several years now. Last summer I went with some friends and my sis went with a friend but my dad didn't get to go. So this summer, sis and I decided that we were taking the folks canoeing as an anniversary present. The river we were on was quite sedate, and though I personally would have preferred one a bit more "exciting", we all had a good time. The coolness of the summer worked to our benefit. July is often very hot & muggy. However this time it was quite comfortable -- not too warm, not too cool and even the mosquitos were well nigh nonexistent. The water was extremely clear -- were even able to see a number of fish (I think they were trout).

Looks like a relaxing, fun time. I wish I would think of cool ideas like this for my parents anniversary. Maybe next year... hehe...

Happy Anniversary to your folks!

Cheers,
BD

NICE! and great idea for a gift!

I went canoeing on the lake this weekend and kayaking the weekend before. I used to be an avid whitewater canoeist...love the adrenalin rush of hearing the whitewater approaching and working my way through it.

What a nice gift. I'm sure your parents loved it and you all had a good relaxing time. Sometimes it's not the rush of the experience but the gentle beauty of it. Happy anniversary to the folks!
