    Default A little get-away...

The past weekend I went down south to Melbourne which is the capital of the state of Victoria in Australia. The purpose was to see my god-daughter who is 2 and her family including her new brother who is now 2 months old! They were both so wonderful... and so cute!

Melbourne's weather can only be described (and many do) as four seasons in one day.. and there certainly was.. I wake up in the morning and it is a lovely crisp autumn morning which is great for a run around the Botanic Gardens.

Many people of course take in the wonderful scenery to enjoy quiet times together...

But the weather always turns and the cold wintry winds can come up very quickly.

But, when she puts on a show, she really puts on a show... almost summer (or dare I say it, Sydney weather hahahha). Melbourne is one of my favourite cities as I find it to be quite beautiful with it's mix of old and new.

and of course the view along the Yarra River along Southbank is just so pretty!

Whilst I was in Melbourne, there was also a pretty big Orchid Show, the Melbourne International Orchid Fair. This gave me an opportunity to catch up with another of our Orchidtalk members, Emos (aka Eric). We had a lovely time perusing both show and vendors stall, and enjoyed the complimentary wine and biscuit and cheese handed around! It really is so nice to meet another of our forum's member!

well that's all folks... if you do come to Australia, do go to Melbourne as well as it is truly wonderful with it's great shopping district (Chapel St) and world class arts precinct (I saw the Dali exhibition and was totally blown away!)

now, where shall I go to next

    cheers
    tim

Hey Tim! What a great trip! It is so cool that you met Eric too! I wish we could have visited Melbourne when we were in Australia. It looks really wonderful. So, what did you bring home from the orchid show?

    Cheers,

Looks beautiful! I so wish to travel but the cost of plane fare is bad enough, then you add in cost of lodgings, food, "fun" money .... gets rather expensive.

Thanks Tim, that's really a beautiful 'exposé' of Melbourne you made. I like the pictures you took there, except of mine of course! but at least there are the orchids around us to counter balance that Lol. Was really great meeting u at the show.
    Cheers mate

Thanks for sharing this trip with me... it was great fun meeting Eric.. and of course, after we had our coffees, we did a bit more orchid shopping. I'm gonna dob in Eric who bought more orchids than me hahaha... I only got a Paph concolor... hmm... ok, ok, so it was a flask of Paph concolor heheheh..

I do wish it was easier for everyone to be able to visit here and vice versa for us to visit you all... well until that happens, I guess sharing it this was is a nice way to enjoy each other's company
