Yes, spring is still a ways off for my area too. Like the close up of the witchhazel flowers, Geoff!

Beautiful Shots, Dana. Love that pretty Christmas decoration and what a way to herald in the new year when that orchid blooms.

Nice shots Geoff. Now that spring is in the air can't wait to see your spring pictures. Hope you will post some pictures of dandelions and fields of buttercups. Those are spring pictures that will always remind me of England.

I'll try and remember - 8th April is always regarded as the peak of the dandelion season - that's the time - approx - when I used to make dandelion wine.
I'm off to West Africa shortly for a holiday ( hotel on the Atlantic coast - should be pleasant weather if the same as my last visit,) but this time I have info about a reserve up-country where what sounds like Ansellia is to be found, and I'm hoping to get there. My own plants ( A.nilotica, A.africana - probably all one species, just local variants ) - are now just starting their spikes. I know the species is "widespread" but was a bit surprised to consider the possibility that it is positively trans-continental, but so little is known about African rain-forest orchids, I think - at least by me .If I find anything , I will have my camera with me and post some pics.

That should be wonderful visit and I hope you get to see the Ansellias in situ. The first time I saw an Ansellia africana in a local nursery I thought it was a Grammatophyllum . The only African orchid popular here is the Angraecum, which is a pity really.

Yew Sung; I just saw a "large specimen" Ansellia africana at a on-line state side nursery for $500.00 US. Could it be that much in Malaysia? AL

I wouldn't know, Al. The one I saw was not for sale as the nursery owner was hoping to use it as a stud plant - and that is the only 'live' Ansellia I've ever seen.

Well we had a short respite from winter. Temps reached the 50's ( a veritable heat wave) and we lost most of our snow. Managed to get this picture taken before the icicles fell off the roof.

Later today, expecting possible snow mixed with freezing rain. Could be interesting.

Same here Branka. We are forcasted to get 10" of snow tonight. That would make 16" for this week. Not very 'Springlike' here either. The temperature did get above freezing today - but we are going to pay for it with tonight's storm. Would love to see a daffodil about now.
