Here's some pictures of Hymenocallis caroliniana (White Spider Lily), found these on a recent kayak trip blooming in and out of the water's edge. Hoping to find some Habenaria repens (Bog orchid) but wasn't lucky on this trip.

Very nice, Shane, to be able to see this lily in the wild.

Al, here are two photos, taken from my window, for better imaginations: this is the view towards North on our Alps - behind is Austria.

I live in the center of the capital and about 20 km from here, the countryside begins. Usually I go there by bicycle, I need an hour or so to reach rural area. Fritillaria meleagris grows just where the urban area ends and meadows beginning. These are places where I do spend my free time prefer. And just under the Alps grows Cypripedium calceolus, I think they will flower in about a mont or so. Can not wait to see them again!
And as Bruce posted some beautiful narcissus, here is one more - it grows togehter with Fritillaria meleagris, it's so pretty and has pretty name too: Narcissus poeticus:

If you ever come to Slovenia, I'll be your guide

Shane; I have seen some beautiful wild flowers in my time in the mountains, deserts and California hills/valleys, but I have never seen a wild lily quite this lovely. Thanks for going through all the trouble to capture and post this. AL

Let me first thank you Branka for the offer to be a guide should I go to Slovenia. As I was telling Bruce when he was looking for suggestions on 'seeing the sights' while in central Europe, I love European history and culture, so if I save my pennies I may make it to Europe yet! If I do I would appreciate and definitely take you up on your offer. Your last photos show what a amazing country you live in. Thanks for posting these! AL

I see those Spider lilies all the time at the market....theres a guy who sells them for 4 dollars each, while garden centres consider them rare and the cost a bomb! Love the alps Branka, stunning shots! you should see our southern alps, they could rival the swiss alps, hehehe!
