How true! I was a child who was nearly paralyzed with the fear of being ridiculed, and couldn't stand the thought of being found wrong. While it helped instill an interest in research before opening my mouth, it also stifled me in many instances. I have spent decades working on that.

I have found it amazing how admitting I have been wrong (assuming I HAVE been) completely deflates the other person's anger or frustration - avoids many an extended argument and lots of hard feelings. AND, it doesn't hurt!

I prefer to be wrong when something bad happens, that way I don't get blamed for it. When something good happens, being wrong ain't so bad either, because now there's something to cheer you up.

I've been there Patty. I still have to fight those feelings, as well.

Object lesson in learning that "now" is better than "then" or "maybe someday...":

Yesterday, I woke, again, feeling sick and still in pain from the infected root canal work I had done last Wednesday, and with a bad case of PMS, the "poor mes", and a good dose of restlessness, irritability, and discontent. It was 78 degrees, sunny, with a light breeze; my living room, for the first time, was in order; my orchids were watered, healthy, and a few had lovely blooms; my children had checked in and were safe and well, my parents the same; the rent was paid for another month and Easter just a few days away - my favorite time of the year. I was miserable all day and well into the night. I couldn't sleep and read until 3:30 a.m., finally falling asleep after shedding a few tears for myself.

This morning, I awoke to much the same, except that the new antibiotic has begun to work, the PMS has eased up, the RHS has registered my paph. that won the HCC last month, and the world feels a lot better to me. I've read a bunch of posts on the Forum that made me smile and a few friends and family have checked in to congratulate me on Paph. Vinings Noir 'Henry's Turn', HCC/AOS. My Sedirea smells much more fragrant than it did a couple days ago.

The difference???? Nothing earth-shaking, but my orchid world has again reached out to remind me that anything is possible, life is precious and exciting, and I myself am not the center of the universe, thank God.

To paraphrase James Carville - "It's the gratitude, stupid!"

Feel free to remind me anytime, friends....
